Baiken is one of my favorite characters from the Guilty Gear series. My aim with this redesign project was to let the exciting elements of her story really drive the design. As always I had to make sure not to stray too far from her original concept. I also used this personal project as a means to learn the ins and outs of working with Vray.
This personal project was a fun collaboration with my buddy Richard Daniels. Rich is an amazingly talented texture artist, so I really wanted the model to be a unique canvas for him to explore. We both envisioned a much more sinister representation of the Dragonball Z villain Janemba, but had to ensure that he remained recognizable.
Richard worked on textures, shading, lighting and rendering while I was responsible for look development, conceptualizing and modeling.
